Tour description

A 4-day motorcycle tour from Tangier through Chefchaouen, the Rif Mountains, Al Hoceima and Morocco’s Mediterranean coast, returning to Tangier for a 3-night loop.

Chefchaouen, Rif & Al Hoceima Adventure is a four-day motorcycle tour through northern Morocco, starting and finishing in Tangier. Ride into the Rif Mountains to discover Chefchaouen, continue along mountain roads toward Al Hoceima, follow the Mediterranean coast to Tetouan, then complete the loop back in Tangier.

The route combines scenic mountain roads, Mediterranean coastal riding and optional easy-to-moderate gravel or hard-packed tracks. It is approximately 70% asphalt, with 30% optional off-road sections depending on weather, road conditions and rider experience. A predominantly asphalt itinerary is also possible. Extreme enduro, dunes, beach riding and deep sand are excluded; tracks must be authorized and confirmed by OXBikers.

Al Hoceima and the Mediterranean Rif

Al Hoceima is the main Mediterranean destination: enjoy bay and coastal-cliff viewpoints, the Quemado Beach viewpoint, the fishing harbour and scenery around the Al Hoceima National Park area. Visits remain on public, authorized roads and access points; restricted areas and unverified tracks are not included.

The itinerary covers approximately 650–800 km, depending on selected scenic roads and optional tracks. Distances, roads, suggested hotels and daily stages may change with weather, local conditions and rider experience.

Itinerary

Day 1 — Tangier to Chefchaouen · approximately 115–140 km

Leave Tangier and ride into the Rif foothills toward Chefchaouen. The short first stage leaves time to explore the Blue Medina, kasbah, Ras El Maa and the Spanish Mosque viewpoint.

Night 1 of 3: Chefchaouen. Suggested hotel: Hotel Alkhalifa or equivalent, subject to availability.

Day 2 — Chefchaouen, Akchour and the Rif to Al Hoceima · approximately 220–280 km

Ride east through the heart of the Rif on winding mountain roads, passing the Akchour area, mountain villages and panoramic viewpoints before descending toward the Mediterranean. Easy-to-moderate gravel or hard-packed tracks are optional and used only when authorized, suitable and confirmed for the day; a paved-road alternative remains possible.

In Al Hoceima, enjoy bay and coastal-cliff viewpoints, the Quemado Beach viewpoint, the fishing harbour and public scenery around the national park area. Do not enter restricted or protected areas.

Night 2 of 3: Al Hoceima. Suggested accommodation, subject to availability.

Day 3 — Al Hoceima, Mediterranean coast, Oued Laou and Tetouan · approximately 250–300 km

Follow northern Morocco’s Mediterranean coastline west, combining coastal roads, Rif cliffs, small towns and mountain-to-sea scenery. Continue through Oued Laou to Tetouan. The exact coastal road may change with roadworks, weather or local conditions.

Night 3 of 3: Tetouan. Suggested accommodation, subject to availability.

Day 4 — Tetouan to Tangier and Cape Spartel · approximately 100–150 km

Complete the loop with a scenic ride back to Tangier and return the motorcycle. If timing, road conditions and opening hours allow, continue to Cape Spartel and the Hercules Caves, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean.
